Last day of Ranui

My last day at Ranui was really a long time ago but it’s better late than never. I’ll miss Kahu 5 and all of Ranui so much. I’m so glad I was able to go and to be in Kahu 5 with Mrs. Tararo and Miss. Welch. Not only will I miss the kids but I’ll miss morning tea, no shoes, culture class, the karakia (prayer), the waita ( song), #1  rule in library no shoes, jump jams, our drinking fountains, the pool, gutter ball, me being a “wet day monitor” and so much more things! Here are just heaps of pictures from Ranui.
The Culture group
It was Thursday so we had Culture.
We did the Haka after to say goodbye.
As you can tell from the pic above kids love peace signs ;D

Northland trip: 90 mile beach,Treaty of Waitangi Grounds, put your shoulder to the wheel

Put your shoulder to the wheel:

No really put your shoulder to the wheel

Push!
Add more people, now PUSH!!
Building Moat
We went to Northland this past week for 5 days. We stayed at the "lovely" X-base. Luckily this one wasn't as bad as the one in Queenstown but I have to say their parties were still loud. Just not as loud. We were in the town called Paihia. It was right by the beach but while we were there it was usually rainy or cloudy.  We went to 90 mile beach. It's really it's name a 90 mile beach. It's a real legal highway so you just get to drive on the beach as if it was a highway! It's so pretty! You can't like lay out and play on the beach cause it's a highway :D

Put Your shoulder to the wheel:

90 mile Beach
Digging moat and digging tires out
see how soft the sand is?

dig!! Dig!!

rope pulling van out. (you can't see but everyone is behind pushing)

the aftermath
  • So all the girls in my dad's van got out.
  •  I was in James' car, he turned around the car and went to  them. .We got out and started helping them.
  •  The sand was almost like mud just really soft. That's why he  .was  getting stuck cause the sand was so soft. We got on all .fours and  ...started digging out the tires.
  •  We kept digging and digging.
  •  Then we tried to find little bagies or cups to get the water out .from by the wheels.
  •  After that we built a moat to drain out the water.  We found pieces of wood to try to wedge under the wheels.
*These nice guys came and helped us.
*We got rope and hooked it up to James' van and everyone  ...pushed the back of the van.
*After trying that a few times we kept digging
    *And then trying again
*After heaps of pushing, digging, lifting and much more it ..came out!!

It was pretty fun though all of it. The thing was the next morning we were all pretty sore ;D

Some of us outside of the church

On Sunday we went to church. Pretty funny the building was right across the street. It was a cute little branch. The building was small as! It was Fast Sunday so a lot of the girls got up and bore their testimony which was really cool. One of the members saw us and after church he told my mom that if we wanted we could come to his family's house and come use their kitchen and cook and just hang out. I'm telling you Maori people are so nice! The two men who helped get the van out were Maori people to. It was funny a car with lots of white guys drove past us and didn't stop but the two Maoris did. ;) Can you imagine? 24 people all in your house that you just met. All these girls sitting on your sofa in your kitchen, all over the place and yet you don't even mind. So so kind and giving! Not all the girls came but they missed out cause we had a blast at the Browns house! The way we had to introduce our selves was we got up on a large wooden table and say what our name was, our age, where we're from and what we like to do. And we had to sing a song. At first we were like What? We weren't sure if he was joking or not. He wasn't. :D My family went first we sang the Cougar Fight song. (song was NOT my idea) It was really fun seeing all the girls do it. I learned things about some of them that I didn't even know! One of their daughters worked at the Treaty of Waitangi grounds and took us for free. It was really nice of her to do that. The treaty grounds were really pretty.         Treaty of Waitangi Grounds:
    war waka (canoe) Treat grounds
    Atti

Our group outside of the Mari at the treaty grounds
    Whanau (family)

So pretty all the carvings!

Rotorua -- a billion years late I know

We were in Rotorua like 2 weeks ago or something it was really fun. But sense I didn't have any time to do a blog post about it I'm now finally getting around to it.

So there's more pictures on the way of when we went to the farm, lake and much more.. I just don't have them from the girls yet - but I should be getting them after FHE tonight.  :)

Mammas donuts!! So so sooo good!!
ZORBING!!!  So zorbing is like a big huge hamster ball with really nice hot water You pretty much roll down a hill in a giant hamster ball full of hot water. I haven't laughed so hard or had so much fun in a long time. It was so thrilling! I wasn't even planning to do it I was just going to watch and take pictures for the girls until I made my self go change into my tog. ( tog = NZ lingo bathing suit) Oh in Rotorua it has these natural hot springs and it smells really funny so my mom made me pack my ugly bathing suit cause we heard it's really hard to get the smell out. :D So that's why I'm wearing that one. Oh the blue stamps? The guy said we had to have one on our head and on our four head if we wanted to do the Zorbing. So yeah.... :D

(Left to right)- Kirsten, Brittany, me, Margo, Brooke and Mandy.
